Patchouli oil (Pogostemon cablin) is warm, spicy and musky. Often considered to possess aphrodisiac qualities, it can also be emotionally balancing and calming. Used in massage it can benefit cellulite and dry irritated skin and can help to relieve anxiety and fatigue. Soothing to troubled skin, and wrinkles. Add to bath for a moisturising, nourishing effect.
Patchouli essential oil is sourced in Indonesia and extracted by steam distillation from Patchouli leaves. Main elements include Patchouli oil and alpha-guaiene.
- Massage or topical use add 3-5 drops per 10ml of carrier oil.
- Diffuser add 4-5 drops to cold water.
- Inhalation add 2-3 drops to hot water.
- Bathing add 5-10 drops to dish of water, then stir into bath.
Can be blended with other essential oils including Lemon, Geranium, Lavender, Peppermint.
Possible skin sensitivity - may cause skin sensitising or irritation. External use only. Do not use undiluted on the skin. Avoid contact with eyes, ears, mucus membranes, and sensitive areas. If you are pregnant, nursing, or using prescription medication, consult your Doctor or qualified health care practitioner before using essential oils.
